Pinscreen animation

initial experimentation creating pinscreen using bamboo material

Exploring tactile animation through a custom pin-screen device inspired by Alexeieff and Parker's pin-screen animation (1933) and Nakagaki et al.'s shape-changing interface (2016). Using bamboo pins and clay-sculpted objects, this experiment examines the interplay of tempo, rhythm, and abstract forms to create a haptic and visual sensory experience

Departing (2021): My first experimental abstract animation reflects my journey of moving to the UK, inspired by the rhythmic sound of footsteps during the pandemic. I applied the pin-screen method to this two-and-a-half-minute piece, which transitions through four phases, combining 2D digital animation, clay stop-motion, and pin-screen techniques to evoke a tactile, embodied sensory experience.
